Waller waltzes back to the High Road

Streatham IHC are delighted to announce our first Blue liner to return to the line up for the 2024/25 season in the capacity of Sam Waller. 

The 32 year old returns for his 4th season on the High Road. The former Swindon Junior has played across the house including Bracknell, the Isle of Wight, Slough and Guildford as well as representing Great Britain at U18 and U20 age groups. Waller has shown his offensive upside while icing for Streatham in recent season whilst maintaining a solid defensive game that made him a mainstay in the old EPL. 

Coach Ben Paynter had the following to say about the return of one of the critical pieces to last years national championship success. 

“Waller brings so much to our team in all areas. He is relied upon in big situations defensively, he is composed on the puck and leads our D offensively. He has been around at this level and higher level a long time and brings a calm head, experience and composure in big moments. When looking at the team from last year Waller is one of the first people I look to sign for the following year and I’m pleased he has chosen to return to the club for the coming season.” 

On his return to the High Road, Waller had the following to say,

“After last seasons success there is no place I’d rather be than on the high road. I think the league is going to be a lot more competitive and I’m looking forward to the challenge. I’ve made Streatham my home now and want nothing more than to keep winning.”
