Millner set for South London move

Streatham IHC are delighted to welcome a second new face to the squad with the signing of Swedish forward David Millner.

The 28 year old joins us from Bracknell where he impressed last campaign scoring 16 goals and 33 assists in 23 appearances.

Born in Ostersund in mid-Sweden, Millner grew up playing hockey in his home town with his goalie brother Alexander before icing with Aseda IF, Jonstorps IF and Brunflo IK. He then took a season out of hockey before heading to the UK and signing up with Bracknell Bees.

“I’m very excited to join such a dominant team and to be honest I’m quite happy to not have to play against Streatham this year” laughed Millner, who has ice with Bracknell and Chelmsford over the last two seasons.

“I know a few of the guys from the team already, they spoke highly of the good atmosphere in the team and I like the way they play. I want to bring some speed and hopefully build on last year’s results so we can lift some trophies.”

Millner will be our final playing squad announcement for the time being and can also play defence if required. He joins netminders Damien King and Nate Gregory, defensemen Adam Wood, James Warman, Jordan Gregory, Michael Farn and Andrew Cook, plus forwards Vanya Antonov, Ryan Watt, Ben Ealey-Newman, Scott Bailey, Brandon Miles, Ziggy Beesley, Danny Ingoldsby, Ben Paynter and Conner Smith.

On signing Millner, Coach Farn said:

“It’s a pleasure to have been able to secure the services of a player with David’s quality. He was always a threat when we played against him, he’s smart, a very good skater and will bring so much to our roster.”

“He will be a key guy on the ice and he’s already familiar with a lot of the guys in the room, so I have no doubt he will fit straight in.

“We aren’t making Many changes to the roster this year but the signing of David is a welcomed addition and will be one I expect to be a big success for us”.

To own and loan David Millner’s Streatham jerseys this season please email streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk . They cost £100 for either the home or away jersey and you get to add a message to the back of the jersey and keep it at the end of the season – we will wash out any game stains (unless you want them left on).
