SIHC Juniors step-up on a 2-way...
January brings the SIHC juniors on a club 2-way with U18 team.
The Streatham Redhawks are pleased to confirm that Emil Oksanen and Preston Tombs will be joining the team for the rest of the season on formal 2 way contracts. They have both iced in a number of games for the Redhawks so far this season when injuries and suspensions have occured and have earned a full time 2 way spot. Both Defensemen whom are Streatham Juniors, will continue to train with the team for the rest of the season and Ice when available, splitting their time between the Redhawks, Blackhawks & U18s.
This is another example of the progress and hard work Streatham Juniors have been putting in to progress their game and shows the continuity through out the club.
Coach Paynter had the following to say,
‘Both lads have been skating with us all year and impressed with their work rate and attitudes from the day they showed up. They come to the rink to work hard, and have excelled when given the opportunity. They both love the game and it shows in their dedication.
I can’t wait to see how they progress and push for more and more ice time as we get to the business end of the year’
Emil (above) commented,
‘Ever since being a mascot for them, I have always looked up to the Redhawks as a goal. It's been an incredible opportunity for me to play for such a well-seasoned team, and I'm extremely grateful to Ben and the players for being so welcoming. The team has helped the transition become quite memorable both on and off the ice by creating a fun atmosphere in the locker room. They are an excellent group of men from whom I can learn a great deal.’
Preston (below) commented,
‘I'm excited to be stepping up into the Red hawks team and look forward to not only playing with the team but the opportunity to learn from the invaluable experience the other players have to offer.’
