No Lane Changes For Ethan

The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to welcome back Ethan Lane for the 26/27 season

A product of the Bracknell, Guildford and Streatham academy system, 20-year-old Ethan returns for his 3rd full season on the RedHawks roster.

Lane made an impact on his senior hockey debut in 2021 as he netted 4 goals in 1 game, playing for the Guildford Phoenix. This goal scoring trend would continue as his explosive offensive output for the U18s of 32 points in 12 matches. Combined with 18 in 24 appearances for the Streatham Blackhawks, caught the eye of Coach Paynter who signed him halfway through the 23/24 campaign. Lane’s habit of impactful debuts continued with 2 goals on his debut against Oxford, and he has continued finding the twine for the club since, with a total of 37 goals in 84 games for the club

Ethan is looking forward to being back on the high road.

“I’m really excited to be returning to the Streatham RedHawks for another season. This club, the fans, and the team mean a lot to me, and I can’t wait to get back out there and give everything for the badge. Looking forward to another big year with the RedHawks

Lane has speed and size, a dangerous combination that he has put to good use in the past to out skate or out battle defenders, ahead of lighting the lamp. Something no doubt coach Paynter will expect of him this season. Combined with a grittier edge to his game that has come in over the past season, with a battling style of play alongside his skill game, seeing Lane throw the body in to finish checks and becoming a fan favourite as a player willing to drop the gloves.

On the re-signing of Lane coach Paynter had this to say:

“Ethan adds speed, physicality and a major goal scoring threat. His offensive upside has been evident since he has been a Redhawk but last season we work hard on developing his defensive game as well as his ability to use his size and be hard to play against, Ethan listened and put the work in and you could see the growth in his game, game on game. This year I’m looking for Ethan to really step up and become a key guy for us, he has the ability to play big minutes, score big goals as well as play a Redhawk style and be tough and physical. I think this will be a year where Ethan breaks out to be a top player in this division and I’m looking forward to seeing what he looks like come September".
