Streatham Have the Power!
The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to announce the signing of forward Mikey Power for the 26/27 season

The 25-year-old 6’ 1” forward started out in the Romford and Sloughs academies before the Okanagan Hockey academy in Swindon applied the finishing touches. Swindon would be where Power made his senior hockey debut with the Wildcats NIHL 2 team. Before moving up to the main Wildcats roster in 2017. Power showed great promise, and this translated into an opportunity to play hockey in the US. With 3 seasons in the WSHL and USPHL, before a return to these shores in 2021 to play in the National League with the Berkshire Bees and MK Lightning. Before heading back to North London to join up with the Romford Raiders, with a season long stint in Essex with Chelmsford.
Mikey is looking forward to playing in Streatham having heard great things about the club and the fans.
“I’m thrilled to be signing in Streatham, I’ve heard great things about the club and fans. We look to be building a great team and I am excited to have the chance to bring home some silverware”
With 128 National league games under his belt, Power has experience and size which he uses to his advantage, through a physical style of play. That makes his presence known on the ice. A player who will not be intimidated and never backs down, that will answer the bell if needed. Around the net Power is a constant goal scoring threat, that defenders always need to be aware of. Underlined by his record during his time in Chelmsford 2 seasons ago, where he delivered 28 goals and 43 assists for 71 points.
Coach Paynter is happy to have a player of Powers quality on board for the season.
“I felt at times last season we struggled to produce potent offence, adding Mikey will help to combat that, everyone I speak to talks about his High IQ and ability to move the puck effectively. This was evident when he played against us while in Chelmsford a couple of years ago which is further backed by his impressive numbers at NIHL1. Not only does he have huge play making upside he can put the puck in the net while being a big body and being hard to play against as well as plenty of experience playing at a higher level. I think he will fit in well with our group and with how I want us to play and I’m excited to see him get started on the High Road.”
Power’s jerseys will be available to own and loan, if interested please email ownloanshirts@yahoo.com. Each jersey is priced at £125 and will be presented to the sponsor at the end of the season. Jerseys will be available on a first come first served basis.
