Ealey-Newman Returns: Josh Is Back at Streatham

The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to announce the signing of forward Josh Ealey Newman for the 26/27 season. 

The 27-year-old 6'1" graduate of the Slough Jets academy system in 2016 returns to the High Road having previously played a pivotal role in the team’s offence as it won multiple trophies over 4 seasons. Josh returns after a season with Haringey Huskies in NIHL 2.

Josh is excited to be back on the High Road and looking to continue the success he’s had here

Josh fits the Streatham style willing to play the physical game and stand up for himself. While also bringing a sniper’s eye for the net, and making those key passes that create goals. Josh is an out and out goal scorer. Totalling 274 points in junior, before continuing that trend with 355 points at senior level. With 97 of those points coming as a Redhawk, in a run that saw Josh help Streatham on the way to winning 2 cups, 2 play-off championships, and 3 league titles. As well as being part of the team that lifted the NIHL 1 National Championship in Coventry.  

Coach Paynter is excited to add a player with such offensive potential at this stage of the summer. 

“At times last year we struggled to score and score in big moments, Joshy has proved over his time with us in the past. That he has the ability, to score those big goals. To be able to add him to the roster at this stage is massive and I’m excited to see him back in a Redhawks jersey. He has had some time away from the sport but has been skating with us over the last few weeks and has shown he will still be a game changer. He possesses all the traits I look for in a Redhawk, his teammates love him and he has slotted back in like he has never been away. I’m excited to be able to have him back in the line-up.”
