Annetts to guard the net

Streatham IHC are delighted to announce that the final squad place for the start of the 2021/22 season has been filled by experienced stopper Tom Annetts.

The 34 year old joins us after last icing with Bracknell Hornets in 2019/20, where he played a big role between the pipes for the Berkshire club.

The Reading born stopper has enjoyed a long career in the game after progressing through the Bracknell junior system and making his debut for the Bees way back in 2003. Tom then went on to appear for Guildford Flames, Basingstoke Bison, Oxford City Stars, Slough Jets and MK Thunder, bagging EPL League and Play-Off Championship medals along the way.

He now joins our existing netminding team of Damien King and Nate Gregory for the 2021/22 season.

"With already having a strong net minding duo announced, confirming the signing of Tommy is huge as it makes our netminding position even stronger" said Player Coach Michael Farn.

"Personally, I believe any team is built around your netminders and the quality of Tommy will give us a great chance of winning going into any game. I’ve played against Tommy on many occasions over the years and he’s always been a goalie that has made life difficult for any team I’ve been on. So many people around the hockey community speak so highly of him, on and off the ice which is important for me when signing a player/goalie."

On how Annetts fits in with our current netminding duo of Nate Gregory and Damien King, Farn added:

"We have to manage some of the off ice commitments of our goalies, so it was crucial that we had the flexibility and quality options available to us. I believe we have three of the best goalies in the league signed up and will allow us to compete in each competition we are fighting for."

Own and loan Annetts' jerseys

Tom Annetts #95 game worn home, away and warm up jerseys are all available through our popular own and loan scheme. You can get your name or message on the back of his jersey(s) throughout the season and then you get to keep it once the season is done. We will wash out any game stains before you get hold of it (unless you prefer otherwise) so it really is a great offer.

To keep it fair, we ask that you email our management stating which of Tom's jerseys you are interested in (home/away/warm up) and if we have multiple bids then we will draw names out of a hat. Jerseys are £100 and you can register interest by emailing: streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk

You can view Tom's hockey career stats here.

Don't forget we have pre-season challenge games on the 4th and 5th September booked in the diary. More details here.
