First new-man to the squad as Ben signs up

Streatham IHC are delighted to welcome the first new face to the squad this summer as Ben Ealey-Newman agrees to sign up in SW16.

The lively forward joins us from Bracknell Hornets where he has been a standout player for a number of seasons. Last year he scored 31 goals and 18 assists for the Berkshire side and finished as their second top scorer.

“It’s been an unusual off season” said Ben on his signing.

“After speaking to Farny, it was an easy decision for me to sign with the RedHawks this year and I am really excited to get going with the team, playing with a lot of old team mates and getting to know the new ones.

“They had an unbelievable year last season, and I have to admit that they were not a fun team to play against.

“I’m hoping I can contribute to this and to the team’s success for the coming season. I can’t wait to play in front of the always loud
Streatham fans, doing whatever I can for the team.”

The 23 year old grew up playing hockey in Slough where he rose through the ranks before breaking into the senior side as far back as 2013 as a fresh faced teenager. A spell at Oxford City Stars enhanced his reputation before moving to Bracknell where he has been alternate Captain since.

Coach Farn is pleased to announce a new face to the squad following confirmed departures of Adam Carr, Rupe Quiney and Rhys McCormick. He said:

“I’m delighted to have signed up Ben, he’s the first new face to the RedHawks` roster and will fit right in to what we are all about.

“He was quite clearly a standout performer for the Hornets last year and after several conversations I’ve had with him, he’s not only a committed player but a genuinely nice bloke which is a huge factor when I’m looking to sign a player.

“He’s no stranger to a lot of our line-up and I’ll be looking for him to hit the ground running and performing well in all situations. He will be a key part to our team this year which I think he will thrive on that responsibility.”
