Ziggy Zig Ah!

Zara Gentles • June 15, 2026

The ever-popular Beesley returns for his 9th season on the high road.

A product of the Bracknell junior system, Ziggy quickly transitioned from juniors to senior hockey joining up with the Bracknell Bees in 2015. 2 seasons in the old EPL would see Ziggy trade Bracknell for North London and Romford Raiders in 2016 for the 2 seasons. Jeremy Cornish would then tempt him to South London for 2018. Where it’s safe to say Ziggy has made himself very much at home

A popular hit with fans and team mates alike, complete with his own group of ultras who show up to support him. Ziggy’s popularity, leadership skills and level head have been rewarded with him being picked as part of the team’s leadership trio in recent seasons.

Ziggy is happy to once again be back on the High Road

Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to be back for another season at the club. Having seen first-hand how successful this club has been over the years, I’m excited to build on last season’s playoff success with what will no doubt be another excellent and highly talented group of players that Coach Paynter is putting together".

We have a special group of players who strive for success in every area of the game, both on and off the ice, and it’s great to be part of such a close-knit family so I’m delighted to be back in September, see you all then and have a fantastic summer. “

Ziggy is very much a battler of a player, adept in the face off dot and so can be counted on to win vital draws. He is also the player coach Paynter can rely on to win pucks in the corners and behind the net. Size of opponent does not phase Ziggy when going into a corner battle, where he more often than not will come away with the puck.

His speed and skating ability serve him well offensively, able to turn quickly and fire accurately. Generate or even finish attacking rushes up ice. Ziggy will be a versatile component in the Streatham offence. And will be looking to further build on a career in Streatham that has seen him make 240 league and play off appearances, scoring 84 goals and 153 assists for 237 points in those games.

Coach Paynts had the following to add

Ziggy has shown over the last 8 years how he can be depended on to carry out what ever role is required of him for the benefit of the team. He has the ability to score big goals in big moments, most notably his play off winning penalty shot in Sheffield, as well as playing a well rounded game including, being a great penalty killer, good in the face off dot, playing systems well as well as slotting into different lines where required. He is a great character to be around, is at the core of our locker room and is exactly the sort of character you want to spend a long season with. This year il be looking for Ziggy to pick up the form he finished last year with and be a real offensive threat for us all year while maintaining his reliable and hard working game all over the ice.“

Ziggy's jerseys will be available to own and loan, if interested please email ownloanshirts@yahoo.com. Each jersey is priced at £125 and will be presented to the sponsor at the end of the season. Jerseys will be available on a first come first service basis.
