Seventh season for Wood

We got Wood again

Streatham IHC are delighted to welcome back Adam Wood back for a seventh consecutive season.

The 29-year-old joined us in 2014 from Cardiff and proved an instant hit with his combative style of hockey, firing in 15 goals and 11 assists.
Wood has been our Alternate Captain since 2016 and can play as a forward or in defence.

“I’m really happy to be signing for my 7th season in Streatham” said Wood.

“I've loved playing here ever since I first joined the club and still can’t see myself playing anywhere else.

“Last season was amazing and one of the most enjoyable in recent memory. It’s a real shame that it was cut short, but we still won everything that was on offer. I can’t wait to get going again in September and do the same for Farny in his rookie year of coaching.

“Farny has been right by Carrsy’s side for a long time and I can’t think of anyone else who could step in to those shoes right now. It’s going to be an exciting year ahead and for the first time in a long time we are beginning a season with high expectations from everyone.

“I’m looking forward to September already and seeing everyone back at the High Road. Stay safe out there in these crazy times.”

Wood adds to a roster that already includes all-stars Damien King, Vanya Antonov and Player Coach Michael Farn, plus free scoring forward Ryan Watt and coach’s player of the year for 2019/20 Ben Paynter.

“Having Woody back for another year is vital to the club and myself, on and off the ice” admitted Coach Farn.

“He's been around the club for a long time and being a part of so many seasons for one club, tells you that he’s a key guy. He brings goals, speeds and physicality, as well as being a character in the room.”

“Woody is such a versatile player, he can play across all positions and no matter where he’s asked to play he gets on and does it. I’m delighted to have woody back in the line-up for the upcoming season.”

To own and loan Adam Wood’s Streatham jerseys this season please email streatham1972@yahoo.co.uk . They cost £100 for either the home or away jersey and you get to add a message to the back of the jersey and keep it at the end of the season – we will wash out any game stains (unless you want them left on).
