GUESS WATT, RYANS BACK!
The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to announce the return for a 9th season of Ryan Watt

The 5’ 11” Product of the Bison Academy brings plenty of experience to the Streatham roster with a career that has seen him play at UK hockey’s highest levels. Getting his senior debut for the Bison in the EIHL along with the Buffalo in the ENL back in 05. But it would be away from Basingstoke where Ryan would establish himself, with seasons in Hull, Swindon, and Slough. But Bracknell would be where Watty established himself in UK hockey, before a call up to the Elite league with the Braehead Clan. Ryan would make his way to Streatham in 2017 as part of Jeremy Cornish’s roster, and except for 1 season back at the Hive, the High Road has been where Ryan has stayed since.
Watty had no doubts about where he wanted to play this season
“We had a pretty successful year last year, Streatham is the only place I want to play, we've built a great winning culture hear over my past 8 seasons, I love coming to the rink, love spending time with the boys and love winning championships as a team”
An in-your-face physical player and someone who can agitate with the best of them out on the ice, Watty is the living embodiment of a player fans love to hate when he’s not on their side and love when he is. A leader on the ice and in the room wherever he plays, and willing to stand up for himself and his teammates and answer the bell. Ryan utilises all the experience of over 600 senior games under his belt combined with his stick handling ability and skills on the puck to drive offence when on the ice but also finding the right positions to be in for the opportunity to create or score a goal. Which has seen him light the lamp for Streatham 110 times while assisting on 157 for 267 points as a Redhawk.
Coach Paynter is pleased to have such an experienced big game player back on the High Road
“There is no one in this league with half as much experience at this level and higher than Watty, from producing points consistently over the years to playing a role in the elite league he has seen it all. He has scored big goals for us at important times, including our go-ahead goal in Sheffield in the play-off final and I know for a fact he has the ability to come up big for us again this coming season. He has captained our group through plenty of ups and downs, and he will continue as our captain for the coming season. He has no nonsense on the ice with opposing teams but in the locker room he cares for his teammates and always wants what’s best for them and the team. I will be relying on him to help guide our younger players as well as playing important minutes for us throughout the year.”
Watt's jerseys will be available to own and loan, if interested please email ownloanshirts@yahoo.com. Each jersey is priced at £125 and will be presented to the sponsor at the end of the season. Jerseys will be available on a first come first service basis.
