The 48-year-old, 5’11” defenceman got his start in UK hockey with the Swindon Wildcats in the old British Division 1, before an over 30-year career in UK hockey. Playing in Bristol, Basingstoke, Billingham, and Chelmsford. As well as Peterborough and Oxford, with a long successful run in Guildford and Swindon. In that time Neil also iced for Team GB at Junior and Senior levels. Winning Bronze and Silver medals with GB at the World Championships. Before joining Streatham over the last 2 season Neil was with the Slough Jets.

Experienced is a bit of an understatement when talking about Neil Liddiard, a player with over 1000 games under his belt, in UK hockey Neil has been there, won that and got several of the medals to go with it, 19 to be precise. A reliable and composed defenceman, who uses everything he has learned in his career, while also being the kind of player who leaves it all on the ice for his team. One of the best shot blockers at any level, Neil knows exactly how to position himself to prevent shooters from getting a direct line of fire on the net and is willing to put his body on the line to stop pucks making it to the net.

I recently said that there isn’t many players with experience like Ryan Watt, in that list of ‘not many’ is also Lidds. He has played for some great teams, won plenty of silverware and will add a calm, steady and reliable presence to our D Core. He is a pain to play against, puts his body on the line playing a physical game and is the best shot blocker in the league. He has shown when playing against us in recent years how much of an impact he can have and I’m delighted to add a leader with this much experience to our group

The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to welcome back Roman Cathcart for the 26/27 season!

The former Basingstoke Bison junior returns to the High Road for his third season. The exciting young player joined Streatham two seasons ago from the Slough Jets. Roman has made quite an impact over his two seasons on the high road racking up 39 points in that time. A player of great potential, which has seen him signed on 2-way deal with the Berkshire Bees and Basingstoke Bison in recent seasons.

Roman is buzzing to be back on the High Road after last season’s success

Buzzing to be back at the high road again this year. Last year, winning a treble was an unbelievable accomplishment. Looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces down the high road.

Roman provides the element that coach Paynter likes to have across all the lines, speed and plenty of it. Cathcart is able to drive forward play and beat opposition defenders to the dirty areas along the boards, and into the corners, while also taking the play to the net to make things happen for himself or his teammates. His 2-way game improved last season as he utilised that speed to back check hard on the defensive and proved a reliable element of the PK when called upon. Roman has been able to use that speed to rack up 17 goals and 26 assists for 423 points in 75 appearances for Streatham

Coach Paynter is looking forward to seeing the young forwards continued development this season

           “

Last season I believe Roman really developed as a player and really grew in confidence as the season went on. He adds so much speed to our line up and last season I think he really utilised that speed by being a pain on the forecheck, relentless all over the ice and moved the puck north efficiently. He can play all forward positions and adapt to situations quickly. His defensive play really improved, and he showed how effective he can be on the penalty kill. I think this season will be a big season for Romes as he builds on his confidence, and I think he will be key to us having success this season.

The 5’ 11” Product of the Bison Academy brings plenty of experience to the Streatham roster with a career that has seen him play at UK hockey’s highest levels. Getting his senior debut for the Bison in the EIHL along with the Buffalo in the ENL back in 05. But it would be away from Basingstoke where Ryan would establish himself, with seasons in Hull, Swindon, and Slough. But Bracknell would be where Watty established himself in UK hockey, before a call up to the Elite league with the Braehead Clan. Ryan would make his way to Streatham in 2017 as part of Jeremy Cornish’s roster, and except for 1 season back at the Hive, the High Road has been where Ryan has stayed since.

We had a pretty successful year last year, Streatham is the only place I want to play, we've built a great winning culture hear over my past 8 seasons, I love coming to the rink, love spending time with the boys and love winning championships as a team

An in-your-face physical player and someone who can agitate with the best of them out on the ice, Watty is the living embodiment of a player fans love to hate when he’s not on their side and love when he is. A leader on the ice and in the room wherever he plays, and willing to stand up for himself and his teammates and answer the bell. Ryan utilises all the experience of over 600 senior games under his belt combined with his stick handling ability and skills on the puck to drive offence when on the ice but also finding the right positions to be in for the opportunity to create or score a goal. Which has seen him light the lamp for Streatham 110 times while assisting on 157 for 267 points as a Redhawk.

There is no one in this league with half as much experience at this level and higher than Watty, from producing points consistently over the years to playing a role in the elite league he has seen it all. He has scored big goals for us at important times, including our go-ahead goal in Sheffield in the play-off final and I know for a fact he has the ability to come up big for us again this coming season. He has captained our group through plenty of ups and downs, and he will continue as our captain for the coming season. He has no nonsense on the ice with opposing teams but in the locker room he cares for his teammates and always wants what’s best for them and the team. I will be relying on him to help guide our younger players as well as playing important minutes for us throughout the year.

Harvey plays an offensively minded defensive game. When not stopping opposition players from getting the puck to the net. He provides a pivot in up ice transition plays. And when needed will happily pinch down from the blue line on a rush to get a scoring opportunity. But he is most dangerous when firing shots in at range from the point. Which has seen Harvey rack up a total of 19 goals and 34 assists in 71 regular season and play-off games for Streatham.

When building my team, I want us to be able to be calm under pressure, make smart plays and keep possession at the right time. Harvey brings all these qualities. His skating ability gives him the opportunity to get out of difficult situations and get us up ice as well as join our offence when needed. Winning silverware is infectious and addictive and now Harv has had a taste of silverware in a Redhawk’s jersey I think it will only strive him to be raise the bar even higher than it already is"

The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to announce the return of Danny Ingoldsby to the High Road for the 26/27 season.

A former Guildford Junior, Ingoldsby (or Dingle to his teammates) got his senior hockey debut as part of the double winning Basingstoke squad in 2013 before spells with the Bracknell Bees, Isle of Wight and another stint in Basingstoke. Before finally joining up with Streatham as part of the league title winning side in 2019/20

Danny became a hit with fans in his first season and has continued to be, combining a hard-edged physical style of play with skill on the puck and an eye for the net that has seen him at the top end of the Streatham stat sheets in most seasons. A clutch performer Danny has scored big goals for the club in the big games. And has formed potent partnerships in the past with coach Ben Paynter, Vanya Antonov and during last season Jared Lane.

Danny is excited to be back for another season:

“Excited to be back for another year looking forward to getting back on the ice and getting more silverware, see you in September”

A physical player that fits in the Streatham style of hockey Danny always looks to finish his checks creating space for others. Danny’s combination of physicality and skill on the puck, enable him to find the spaces for scoring which has seen him record 136 goals with 104 assists for 240 regular season points in 175 appearances with an additional 21 goals and 11 assists in 19 play-off games.

Coach Paynter is pleased to have secured a game winning player in Ingoldsby for another season

“To win games you need to put the puck in the net and Danny has shown over his time in Streatham that he is no stranger to scoring goals. He is a player that comes alive in big moments and has put the team on his back and really carried us at times. He leads from the front, can play in all situations and can log big minutes based on how he takes care of his fitness. On top of his on ice attributes, he is a massive part of our dressing room with his positivity as well as his entertaining character.”

A product of the Bracknell, Guildford and Streatham academy system, 20-year-old Ethan returns for his 3rd full season on the RedHawks roster.

Lane made an impact on his senior hockey debut in 2021 as he netted 4 goals in 1 game, playing for the Guildford Phoenix. This goal scoring trend would continue as his explosive offensive output for the U18s of 32 points in 12 matches. Combined with 18 in 24 appearances for the Streatham Blackhawks, caught the eye of Coach Paynter who signed him halfway through the 23/24 campaign. Lane’s habit of impactful debuts continued with 2 goals on his debut against Oxford, and he has continued finding the twine for the club since, with a total of 37 goals in 84 games for the club

Ethan is looking forward to being back on the high road.

           “I

’m really excited to be returning to the Streatham RedHawks for another season. This club, the fans, and the team mean a lot to me, and I can’t wait to get back out there and give everything for the badge. Looking forward to another big year with the RedHawks

           ”

Lane has speed and size, a dangerous combination that he has put to good use in the past to out skate or out battle defenders, ahead of lighting the lamp. Something no doubt coach Paynter will expect of him this season. Combined with a grittier edge to his game that has come in over the past season, with a battling style of play alongside his skill game, seeing Lane throw the body in to finish checks and becoming a fan favourite as a player willing to drop the gloves.

On the re-signing of Lane coach Paynter had this to say:

            “

Ethan adds speed, physicality and a major goal scoring threat. His offensive upside has been evident since he has been a Redhawk but last season we work hard on developing his defensive game as well as his ability to use his size and be hard to play against, Ethan listened and put the work in and you could see the growth in his game, game on game. This year I’m looking for Ethan to really step up and become a key guy for us, he has the ability to play big minutes, score big goals as well as play a Redhawk style and be tough and physical. I think this will be a year where Ethan breaks out to be a top player in this division and I’m looking forward to seeing what he looks like come September

One of the most highly rated goalie prospects in UK hockey, Max has come through the academy systems at Guildford, Romford and Haringey. And arrives as a netminder who has already shown great ability but who also has a great deal of potential. Which is further underlined by his call ups to the GB junior program. Which has seen Max backstop GB to bronze and silver medals in recent seasons

“I am absolutely thrilled to be signing with the Streatham Redhawks for the 26/27 season! I can't wait to get out there, meet all of the incredible fans, and get to work. Let’s build on last year’s fantastic run and bring some more silverware home where it belongs

           .”

Max made his senior debut in NIHL 1 with the Romford Buccaneers in 24/25, where he would split the starters job initially with Sonny Phillips, starting 20 games to Phillips 17, returning a GAA of 3.87 and save percentage of .899 before cementing his place as starting choice during the back end of last season while posting a GAA of 4.81 and a save percentage of .892 in the regular season, before a 4.00 and .912 during the play offs.

Stats alone are not a good indicator of ability and potential in a goalie however, as the stats are influenced by a teams performances. The key is the eye test, and watching Max’s play show cases a netminder with the ability to improve upon what’s on paper. Which was apparent during both the play offs and games played against Streatham as Max made big saves to limit the damage the RedHawks offence was able to do.

Something coach Paynter will be expecting more of from Max this season.

           “

With Danny Milton retiring I wanted to ensure I brought in a goalie that would truly make the best tandem in the league. I’m a firm believer that having 2 goalies that can both get the job done is massive in having success in this league. Bringing Max in does exactly that, he is young, energetic and wants to push himself to be the best he can.

I think it will genuinely be a healthy tandem, with both Brett and Max pushing each other to be at their best and compete for the net while supporting each other when needed. They’re both great lads and have fantastic personalities. I had always heard great things about Max as a person and when speaking to him, it was immediately evident why people think so highly of him.

He showed in the play offs against us that he can compete under pressure and have a stellar performance and this was reinforced by his performances with GB18s in this years world championships.

I can’t wait to see him in red come September

The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to announce the return of forward Aidan Doughty for the 26/27 season!

A product of the Isle Of Wight junior system, standing 6’ 2”, Aidan is a player who has always had an eye for the net through both junior and senior careers in UK hockey. With his quality at a young age seeing him land a roster spot overseas in the WSHL of North America. Aidan brings plenty of experience at this level of UK hockey, having spent time in Solent following the closure of the IOW rink. Before 5 seasons in the National league with the Basingstoke Bison and Berkshire Bees.

He returns for his 3rd season on the high road in a row(and his 4th overall after a season here in 2017/18) coming off a season where he lead the team in points during the regular season with 22goals and 17 assists for 39 points. Landing among the top 10 scorers in the league overall.

Aidan is happy to be back with Streatham for another season.

“I’m Glad to be back next year, we finished last season on a high so I can’t wait to hit the ground running and compete for more silverware.”

Aidan has shown himself to be a clutch performer for the RedHawks over the past 2 seasons scoring some big goals. With none being bigger than the game winner against Chelmsford with seconds left on the clock, that helped secure the Challenge cup. A result of Aidan using his size to cause net front chaos, something he specializes in. But Aidan can also score from further out, with a very accurate wrist shot, which was used to score 2 of the most important goals in Streatham’s season scoring in the South 1 play off final, before netting the game winner in the game against Blackburn to win the National Play Off Title.

Coach Paynter is pleased to have such a key piece of last seasons championship winning roster back on the high road.

           “

Doughts in my opinion is the best 2 way forward in the league, he doesn’t always steal the headlines, but he is the sort of player that does all the little things well and consistently, he is solid defensively, quality on the penalty kill, wins face offs and has shown this last year the offensive impact he can make. He is the sort of player that every coach wants, he just goes about his business quietly and under the radar.

Retaining him for this season was a priority and when speaking to other players, the questions was commonly asked, “Is doughts coming back” for me this shows how much of a bit part of our team he is on the ice and in the locker room.

This was reaffirmed by him winning the Players Player award at last years awards night.

He leaves it all out there, battles for the right reasons and comes up big offensively when it’s needed. I’m thrilled to have him back for another year”

Shepherding the net for 2026/27!

Streatham IHC are excited to announce the return of Brett Shepherd for the 26/27 season.

A graduate of the Streatham academy, Shepherd returns after what was undoubtedly his most successful season in South 1 with the RedHawks. The last 2 seasons have seen the young goalie take over the starters role and become a championship winning netminder at south 1 level in the process.

While a graduate of the academy, Brett has been on a journey before arriving back home with Streatham. Playing in and winning the NIHL 2 League and National titles with Slough Jets and being part of their roster on the Jets return to NIHL 1. Before stepping up to the National League with the Berkshire Bees.

In 24/25 Brett returned home to Streatham, taking over for the injured Danny Milton. Forming a potent 1A 1B partnership in the net for Streatham once Milton returned towards the end of the season and giving the club the same with his return for last season. Another injury to Milton put Brett in the position of club number 1 around February time for the end of season run in.

“I'm super excited to be signing again with Streatham. 2025/26 was the most successful season in my career and winning trophies is addictive, so that will be the aim again heading into next season. I look forward to seeing everyone again in September!”

Brett would back stop the team through many big games and moments in the end of season run in. His style of play and confidence in net, transitioning into a confidence that allowed the lines Infront of him to play with the added confidence of knowing if something got through, he’d likely stop it.

All this was underline by Brett having the best save percentage among regular starting netminders at .928% and the best overall Goals against average of 1.57 GAA. Brett would cement his position and calibre as a championship winning netminder in Sheffield. Where his composed performance in the shootout, won Streatham the South 1 play offs before stopping everything the next day against Blackburn to win the National play off title

Coach Paynter looks forward to seeing Bretts continued development after a season where he made the starters job his own

“Everyone knows that goaltending can make or break a season and Brett was a massive part of making our season last year. Over the last 2 seasons he has grown as a player in his performances and confidence and really cemented himself as a championship winning goalie. His performances leading into the play offs made the starting position in the play offs his and he showed in Sheffield how to get the job done.

He has matured into a reliable goalie who competes every night and someone who gives us a chance to win every night.

He is a pleasure to be around in the room and his team mates want to go to battle for him.

I’m excited to see how he can build on last year this coming season.”

Streatham Won’t Be Lacking Anything with Alan Back!

Streatham IHC are pleased to announce the return of Alan Lack to the High Road for the 26/27 season!

Joining Streatham mid-way through last season, Lack proved a hit on the high road feeding fresh energy into the RedHawks campaign. His aggressive battling style of play showcased why Lackey has been a hit wherever he has signed in the past

A product of the Bracknell junior system, Alan spent the early years of his senior UK hockey career with the Hornets, and Bees. Before stints in Invicta and Slough. Before heading to Peterborough, his season there was followed by a hugely successful spell in Basingstoke where helped the Bison end a league title trophy drought. Before heading up to Essex to join the Raiders and then Chelmsford Chieftains.

Lack had a few feelings he wanted to share with the fans on his re-signing in Streatham and how joining Streatham had given him a new desire to play.

           “

Funny how hockey changes over the years. One minute you’re flying, the next you’re questioning why you even do it anymore. Every player eventually loses that spark at some point. The important thing is finding it again. Finding your “why.”

This decision took me longer than any other in my career because for the first time in a long time, it actually meant something. But recently I found that fuel again. So I’ll be back in Streatham, doing what I do best, with a massive reason behind me.

Respect in this game is earned and lost daily. Every action tips the scale. Some people talk loyalty, respect, and culture but don’t have a clue what it means when it matters. Paynts pulled me out of a place where I genuinely felt lost in the sport. He listened, coached, held people accountable, but most importantly saw the human being behind the player. And honestly, hockey in this country is awful at that, from top to bottom. Players are expected to just shut up, take rubbish, and keep going.

So to have that support again, alongside a room full of lads that actually want to win and bleed for each other, make this upcoming season exciting one.

And to the keyboard warriors, before you type your next bit of abuse, remember there’s a human being behind the jersey. But either way, talk your stuff. I’ve stopped caring.

Now it’s time for September. Time to get back to work, chase silverware, and put that cup back where it belongs

Lack is relentless on the ice, willing to battle in the corners and around the net, but also put his speed and physicality to good use to create chances. This was evidenced by his role in Aidan Doughty’s goal against the Jets in Sheffield. A proven locker room leader, and an experienced campaigner whose CV has multiple championship medals attached to it. And a player more than willing to stick up for himself and team mates as and when needed. Lackey knows how to find the net and create around it as well, able to find goals from the dirty areas. Posting double digits in goals and assists most seasons in his career, finishing last season with 12goals and 15 assists for 27 points, while being a 1.5 point a game player in the play offs the last 2 seasons.

Lack only had half a season as a Streatham player but made a big impact, something coach Paynter is hoping for more of in 26/27

Lacky was a breath of fresh air when he came over to Streatham midway through last season, he showed why he is adored by the supporters of the teams he has played for with his hard work, grit and determination.

He can play in all situations, plays tough, chips in with big goals and leaves it all out there. He really does fit the mould perfectly for what I want our identity to be.

The Streatham RedHawks are pleased to welcome back American defenceman Dylan Dix for the 26/27 season.

Debuting in 2024 for the Chelmsford Chieftains, the big Californian Offensive D-Man rose to notoriety in NIHL 1 with his punishing style of play, goal scoring ability and being involved in a heavy weight rivalry with Sloughs Brandon Miles, while pitching 7 goals and 22 assists for 29 points. All of this caught the attention of coach Paynter who signed him up last season.

Dylan became a hit with fans literally in his first season on the High Road as the hard-hitting Californian D-Man delivered punishing body checks all over the ice and stood up for teammates when needed. While also becoming a hit on the club’s socials when advertising the Heated Rivalry series.

At 6’2” Dylan will use all of his size to play a very physical game of defensive hockey, clearing the net front and forcing carriers to the boards, and delivering bone crunching hits. While also contributing to the transition and offensive side of things, while being more than capable of scoring goals on up ice rushes and pinches from the blue line. Returning 5 goals and 18 assists for 23 points.

Bringing Dixy back was a massive priority when building the team for next year, he was a huge boost for us last year and really buys in to the ‘Streatham way. He is physical, moves the puck well and has a great shot. He comes to complete every night, and I can play him in all situations. His teammates love him and he fit straight in with our group as soon as he arrived with his passion to win and all-round good guy mentality. He got better and better as the season went on last term and I can’t wait to see what he can bring this coming season now he has a full season as a Redhawk under his belt

Having secured his first championships in UK Hockey with the club after winning the Challenge cup, south 1 and National Play offs Dix is looking forward to more of the same in 2026/27 and he had this to say to the fans

I am really excited to be back for another season. A big part of my decision to move to Streatham was the opportunity to compete for trophies and contribute to a winning culture, so I’m proud of what we achieved together last season and excited for what’s ahead. I can’t wait to be back on the High Road in front of our amazing fan base. Your support throughout the season meant a lot to the team and created such a great atmosphere every night. Hope everyone has a great summer, and I’ll see you at the rink in September!

Ratcliffe enters his 4th season behind the bench with the RedHawks having stepped into the role on the eve of the 22/23 season, having iced for the team the previous season. Guiding them from the bench to a league and play-off double in his debut year. Stan has gone onto more success since then most notably applying his tactical insight and leadership skills to help Streatham to both the NIHL1 National Championship in 2024 and NIHL 1 National play off championship in Sheffield this past season. In addition to the RedHawks, Stan will also have his eyes on potential prospects this season as he takes over in the role of head coach for the Streatham academy.

Stan is happy to be back for another season on the high road. And looking forward to building on the success of 25/26

“I’m delighted to be back at Streatham and once again work with Paynts and the boys. I’m looking forward to building on the success of last year and pushing for even more this season. Really excited to see everyone at the rink in September!”

Danny Milton will be joining Stan on the bench for 26/27. Already a highly rated goalie coach, Danny will be bringing the experience of a multi championship winning netminder and a 16-year career in UK hockey. Having specialised in training young netminders for over a decade. While also working as the video and goalie coach for GB Women’s U18, helping them to a silver medal in the world championships in 2021.

Danny is happy to back with the team, and excited for his new role. After hanging up the pads after Sheffield.

“I’m glad to be back with the Redhawks but in a different role this year. I always knew I wanted to do more team coaching once I had retired, and with Stan taking over the juniors, and me wanting a little bit more family time, it was the perfect opportunity to come on board and help out with Paynts and work with Stan.

Retiring on a high, winning the 3 trophies was an amazing feeling, so I hope to be starting my coaching career doing what I can for the team and bringing back some more trophies!

Enjoy the summer break, look forward to seeing you all in September!”

The duo of Milton and Ratcliffe gives the club a great dynamic of insight, leadership and championship winning experience behind the benches. Coach Paynter is happy to have both back behind the bench

I’m pleased to have Stan back behind the bench for another year. He is someone who has been with me since I stepped into the head coach role and we have built a great relationship over the last few years. He matures every year and has made some big decisions under pressure during games that have paid off and ultimately lead to us winning massive games along the stretch.

Away from the RedHawks, Stan has taken another step in his coaching career by taking on the head coach role of the junior club, which is a move I think the junior club and Stan will both thrive from as a result. I believe this will help us built a strong bond between the RedHawks and the junior club. He has a great manor with the younger players and lots of fresh ideas, so it is an exciting time for hockey in Streatham.

With Stan splitting his commitments between the RedHawks and the junior club there was a need for an additional bench coach, Milts is the perfect fit for this, he knows the guys, understands how the club operates and knows exactly what the expectations and standard of the club are. With him helping on the bench last season while injured his transition will be seamless and I think he can add an additional dynamic to our coaching team.

Since stepping into the role in 2022/23, Paynter has led the club through one of its most successful periods, delivering league, league cups and playoff titles and, most recently, guiding the team to Challenge Cup success this season.

A long-standing figure at Streatham, Paynter first joined the club as a player in 2017 and returned in 2019 after a brief spell with the Bracknell Bees. He has remained a key presence ever since.

Still producing on the ice, Paynter has tallied 231 points for the club, entering him into the top 10-point scorers in the club’s history, underlining his continued impact in a dual role.

With the playoffs ahead, focus remains on finishing the current campaign strongly, while preparations are already underway for another competitive season in 2026/27.
